Adding Va Va Voom to Your Honeymoon with Lingerie

Bridal LingerieOne part of every bride’s shopping experience is the bridal lingerie for the honeymoon night. Brides have a choice to make. Do they want to be super-sexy, demure, or raunchy? This is a special night, and the lingerie sets the tone. While candles, music, and more can make the night special, there is nothing so sexy as what you are wearing…or not wearing. So what are your options for honeymoon lingerie?

Baby Doll NightieWhile baby doll nighties are most often classified as cute, they can also be sexy. They typically have a loose flowing skirt with bra-like cups. Depending on how sexy you want to get, they can be made of cotton, silk, or sheer material. Sometimes feathers, leather, or fuzzy trim are added for effect.

Teddy NightieThe teddy gown falls just beyond the waist, settling on the upper thigh. The everyday teddy may come in cotton, but honeymoon lingerie should be made of sexier materials like silk, satin, or sheer material.

Garter BeltThe classic sexy lingerie, the garter belt can even be worn under your wedding gown, only to be revealed afterward. It is a belt that is worn directly on the skin around the waist. Stockings are attached to the belt’s four to eight straps dangling down to the top of the thigh. Most garter belts come with a matching bra, which may or may not be worn for effect.

BustierAnother item that can be worn under the wedding gown or other clothing, the bustier is a strapless bra that goes down to the waist. There are garter straps attached to the bottom that can attach to stockings. The bustier can be worn with or without panties.

CorsetBridal Corset DetailWhile the bustier is a bra, the corset simply goes around the waist and lifts the breasts. It is made of a stiff material and reinforced with boning so it can be effectively tightened to cinch the waist. It is held in place by lacing either in the front or back. Some corsets also come with garter straps.

CamisoleThe camisole, or “cami,” is a short, loose-fitting top that has thin straps and goes to the waist. It can be worn as a slip, sweater, underneath a jacket, or alone. Some camisoles come with built in bras and they are available in a variety of materials.

ChemiseWith its spaghetti straps and straight cut, this is the most common gowns available. Chemises come in a variety of materials, but they always fall just above the knee. Often the straps are adjustable.

PeignoirA popular choice for the honeymoon night, the peignoir is a floor length gown that reaches the ankles. They often come with a robe. Traditionally the bride wears a white silk peignoir on her wedding night.

Thongs and G-StringsA little more “risqué” version of lingerie is the g-string. G-strings differ from thongs in that the g-string only has a think stretchable string covering the backside. Both are designed to leave your backside exposed.

Whether you are looking to be risqué or demure for your wedding night, there are a variety of options available. Each can be designed to fit your mood based on materials used in creating the lingerie. However, be sure you try on your outfit before your honeymoon so that you know it will fit and achieve the mood you want to set for the night.
